Creative and fashionable alterations that fit like a glove for all events
My story starts in Tra-Vinh, Vietnam, where I watched my mother working as a seamstress in her own two shops—a bridal store and an alterations store. Naturally, I loved to watch her and play with the tools of her trade, all while absorbing her knowledge and professionalism.
By the age of 12, I was madly in love. Not with a glamorous rock star or a handsome Hollywood actor, but with the art and craft of sewing! It was intoxicating to see how something as simple as a needle and thread could create gorgeous gowns, alter clothes to fit changing body shapes, and transform the look and feel of a dress.
My informal education from my mother meant that I was already a professional seamstress at 18. I worked alongside her for a few years, leaving only when I moved to the United States in 2001 with my husband.
At first, I worked as a seamstress in The Century Fashion, Jeanette Bridal and Tang’s Alterations stores, studying to achieve a diploma in Fashion Merchandising and Design, and then another diploma in Sewing and Dressmaking from the Stratford Career Institute. I also attended the International Career Institute to obtain a diploma in Advanced Fashion Design. I offer a professional eye along with a steady hand for the perfect result every time—The result of a lifetime of fascination in my craft.
